Adam Schiff Makes It Clear He’s Only Just Begun Investigating Mike Pence

After the full House of Representatives passed two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump in November, it became clear that Trump will not get away with his crimes related to the Ukraine scandal, if only because his name will always have a black mark by it that reads “impeached.” Even worse, Trump is the only president in history to be impeached during his first (and hopefully last) term in office.

But while the nation’s attention was firmly on Trump and the pending Senate trial, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee also let it be known that his committee isn’t about to let Vice President Mike Pence skate for his role in the Ukraine matter.

During an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” recently, Schiff made it clear that  his committee will be taking a much closer look at Pence.

According to Newsweek:

“Schiff told Maddow he and his colleagues have ‘acquired a piece of evidence’ from a classified submission by State Department official Jennifer Williams, who was attached to Pence’s office as a special adviser for Russia and Europe.”

Williams was on the infamous call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and she later reported back to Pence on the matter. Pence also later spoke with Zelensky himself, but he steadfastly refuses to release a full transcript of that conversation, which led Schiff to note:

“It is not proper to classify something because it would be embarrassing or incriminating, and that summation does shed light on the vice president’s knowledge, and we think the American people should see it. Certainly any senators in the trial should have access to it.”

Schiff also said that he’s convinced Pence is involved in a cover-up, and as we learned in Watergate, the cover-up is what brings down the people who have committed the crimes:

“It just goes to show that there is a body of evidence, documentary and otherwise that administration figures from the president on down to include the vice president do not want the American people to see or know. And the question is will they succeed? Will the cover-up succeed, or will the Senate insist on what we were not able to obtain in the house? And that is a White House that will comply with the lawful process.”

Pence is hiding something. It may wind up being damaging information about Trump that will destroy the president. Or it could be evidence that proves his own culpability in the crimes surrounding Ukraine. Either way, he’s in the spotlight, and now we get to see him sweat.
