Could Donald Trump be totally under the sway of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a double agent who intends to try and undermine the national security of the United States in order to serve the interests of the Russian Federation? Former CIA chief Michael Morell says yes.
In an op-ed piece written for the New York Times, Morell argues that Trump is indeed operating on behalf of Russia, writing:
“The dangers that flow from Mr. Trump’s character are not just risks that would emerge if he became president. It is already damaging our national security.
“President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia was a career intelligence officer, trained to identify vulnerabilities in an individual and to exploit them. That is exactly what he did early in the primaries. Mr. Putin played upon Mr. Trump’s vulnerabilities by complimenting him. He responded just as Mr. Putin had calculated.
“In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation.”
Morell also says that Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States has “undermined security” by playing “into the hands of the jihadist narrative that our fight against terrorism is a war between religions.”
The former CIA director, who spent decades at the agency, also said he would be voting for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in November. Of Clinton, Morell writes:
“I found her to be prepared, detail-oriented, thoughtful, inquisitive and willing to change her mind if presented with a compelling argument.”
Whether or not Trump is indeed working for the Russians or is merely being used as an unwitting pawn by Putin, just the fact that he is so complimentary of a man who runs Russia with an iron fist, assassinating or jailing his political opponents, ordering the killing of journalists who dare to write negative stories about him, and invading other sovereign nations, is troubling. Also, it has been suggested by Trump’s son that his father has large business interests in Russia. Russian oligarchs and organized crime figures may also be major investors in Trump’s business ventures.
The time has come for everyone to reject Donald Trump as a clear and present danger to the United States. He must be defeated come November 8.
