The folks who support and work for Donald Trump just cannot resist lying. No wonder they get along so well with the GOP nominee.
This morning on CNN’s State of the Union, campaign manager Kellyanne Conway tried to spin a scare which took place at a Trump campaign rally in Reno, Nevada, as an assassination attempt. Donald Trump, Jr. tried even went so far as to call a false alert from an anti-Trump protester an attempt on his father’s life. For her part, Conway told host Jake Tapper:
“It’s scary. All the coverage is usually about our protesters wreaking havoc and making people feel afraid. And it certainly goes both ways. I’m with Mr. Trump and the Secret Service routinely. They do an amazing job.
“I also want to point out because some people are spreading misinformation about the protester. He had canvassed for Hillary Clinton and he had donated to her campaign. So, this is a Democratic plant or operative trying to disrupt our rally. And I think people saw a nimble resilient Donald Trump who would be nimble and resilient as president as well.”
No, you saw a scared shitless Donald Trump ducking and running for his life, Kellyanne. Your boss is a lily-livered wimp of a human being.
Tapper then gave Conway a heavy dose of the truth:
“Except it wasn’t an assassination attempt. It was apparently a local voter, a Republican who says he is supporting Hillary Clinton. He has given money to Hillary Clinton. He has canvassed for Hillary Clinton. But he says he’s a Republican. But most importantly, he was not trying to assassinate anyone. This was not an assassination attempt, but why is your campaign spreading that it was?”
Clearly frustrated that Tapper had just called her out and laughed at the suggestion Trump was ever in danger, Conway sniped:
“That’s really remarkable. That that’s what the story line is here.”
Here’s the real story line, Ms. Conway: Your candidate is a racist, a xeonophobe, and a massive douchenozzle who is trying to win by dividing the American electorate. On Tuesday, a verdict will be rendered on his–and your–efforts, and you aren’t gonna like what the country has to say.
