Fanatical Defenders Of ‘American Sniper’ Chris Kyle Threaten To Rape, Behead Critic

There’s nothing wrong with admiring someone, especially someone who has served their country in the military like the late Chris Kyle, the subject of the book and movie American Sniper. But when that admiration turns to threats against a person who disagrees with you, then you’ve stepped way over the line.

Such is the case with former RT anchor Abby Martin, who criticized the late Navy SEAL sniper and even created a controversial T-shirt which she posted a photo of online. The shirt simply states:

“F*ck Chris Kyle”

As a result of exercising her right to disagree with the lionization of Kyle, one website said:

“Chris Kyle is an American hero who is an easy target because he is no longer alive. Abbey Martin [sic], is just a coward hiding behind the freedoms that our military has granted her when she was born on this great land that we call the United States of America.”

But some of the comments on social media were the ones that frightened Martin the most. On both Facebook and Twitter, users have encouraged raping and beheading her, threatened to murder her, told her to commit suicide, and posted some of the most hideous insults you can imagine. One post, attributed to a Jamie Lugo reads:

“F*cking c*nt. How dare you disgrace his name like that. He gave his life so you can have yours. F*cking b*tch. Don’t worry I know where you live thanks to your ip address. And don’t worry I’m a Marine. So u won’t see me coming. I’m going to cause you pain beyond your imagination. Tic toc times running out.”

While another urged American Sniper fans to:

“Put on our raping shoes and find this b*tch.”

Fighting back, Martin placed this post on her Facebook page:

“Some psychotic Chris Kyle fan just doxxed me & my family’s personal information on a bunch of sniper forums. If anything happens to me or them you know who to blame. These are the real f*cking terrorists.”

Martin is not shy in her criticism of Kyle, objecting to his use of the term “savages” to describe some of the people he encountered while serving in Iraq. She described American Sniper as:

“Dangerous propaganda that sanitizes a mass murdering psycho.”

The last time I checked, Ms. Martin, along with the rest of us, was allowed to express such an opinion, and the irony of the whole situation has not been lost on her. As she noted on Twitter:

“Very telling that the #ChrisKyle fans who tell me he ‘died for my freedom’ to wear clothes are threatening to rape & kill me for free speech.”
