Former CIA Director On Trump’s Wiretap Claims: ‘Let Me Go Very, Very Dark On You’ (VIDEO)

As questions of who Donald Trump owes his loyalty to continue to cloud the first 100 days of the administration and Trump himself lashes out wildly by suggesting the former president had his phones tapped, current and former members of the intelligence community are weighing in on the matter.

On Morning Joe early Monday, former NSA and CIA Director Michael Hayden was the guest, and General Hayden said what Trump is alleging–wiretaps ordered by President Obama–is not even possible:

“If you take literally what the president tweeted, the plumbing just doesn’t work that way. It could not have happened the way the president said it.”

While Trump and his deluded minions may try to suggest that President Obama ordered Trump be electronically monitored, such a thing hasn’t been possible since the “mid 1970s,” Hayden noted. The only way an order for a wiretap can be issued is with the approval of a judge and evidence of probably cause.

Hayden also wondered aloud if perhaps Trump has forgotten that he’s president. He could have easily determined if a wiretap warrant had been issued:

“He could have called the Acting Director of National Intelligence and the Director of FBI and asked them questions. He simply could have asked.”

The real reason for Trump’s accusatory tweets, General Hayden suggested, may have more to do with trying to manipulate the media, and he warned:

“Let me go very, very dark on you. The President of the United States put his own reputation, the reputation of his predecessor, and the reputation of his nation at risk to get at least a draw out of the next 24 hours of news.”

Do any of us doubt that the oft-unhinged Trump is capable of such and action for the very reason of trying to cloud the waters? Image is paramount with Trump, and he had just seen the good reviews for his speech to a joint session of Congress overwhelmed by the controversy over his Attorney General meeting with the Russian ambassador.

But let’s go even darker: Trump cannot stop talking about Russia, wiretaps, and conspiracies, because he knows he’s guilty as homemade sin. He knows the truth is close to leaking out. He knows he’s doomed. And when it all finally unravels, he will go down in history as the biggest traitor since Benedict Arnold.

Donald is terrified. He is flailing about because he cannot stand the thought of what happens next.
