Fox Host Laura Ingraham Admits In Private That She Expects Trump Will Lose The Election

Each and every night on her show, Fox News host Laura Ingraham gladly trumpets talking points from the Trump administration, attacks Democrats, and floats the occasional conspiracy theory that winds up being so absurd it sounds like something she dreamed up while wearing an tinfoil hat and channeling Alex Jones.

But while Ingraham may publicly appear upbeat about Donald Trump’s chances of being reelected, in private she sings a much different tune, according to Gabriel Sherman of Vanity Fair, who reports that she and other Fox News personnel are already planning for what happens after Trump loses to Joe Biden:

“A couple of weeks ago, Roger Ailes’s widow, Elizabeth, invited Fox News host Laura Ingraham and a few others for dinner at her $36 million Palm Beach home. The political conversation around the table was melancholy, a person familiar with the gathering recalled. With COVID cases hitting record highs and Donald Trump’s poll numbers going in the opposite direction, guests agreed that Trump is probably incapable, or unwilling, to take steps to turn things around. ‘We have to be prepared for Trump losing,’ Ingraham told her dinner companions, according to the source.”

The Fox host is so worried about Trump’s pending loss and fearful that Fox News will pivot afterwards that she’s already testing out other possible job opportunities:

“Ingraham said she’s been in talks to take over for Rush Limbaugh, who recently revealed his Stage 4 lung cancer might force him off the radio. ‘Laura’s really interested in Rush’s job,’ a person close to Ingraham said. (Ingraham did not respond to a request for comment.)”

Of course, being really interested and actually getting the job are two different things, and it seems highly unlikely that Limbaugh’s majority male audience would be willing to tune in so they can listen to a Connecticut-born attorney with a perpetually whiny tone tell them what they should think.

No matter what gig Ingraham eventually settles on, it’s telling that she’s worried enough about Trump’s future that she’s already looking for the nearest exit. That alone speaks volumes about just how bad things are going for the president.
