When he testified before the House Oversight Committee in late February, Donald Trump’s former attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, made it clear that he has volumes of evidence that may well prove the president has committed numerous crimes that stretch over multiple jurisdictions. And Cohen also made clear that he was sick and tired of being Trump’s chief defender, telling the committee:

“I regret the day I said ‘yes’ to Mr. Trump. I regret all the help and support I gave him along the way. I am not protecting Mr. Trump anymore.”

And now Cohen has made it clear yet again that he may well be the single biggest threat to Trump’s presidency and freedom once he leaves the White House, turning over a hard drive containing some 14 million files dealing with Trump, including e-mails, voice recordings, images, and attachments from Cohen’s computer and cell phones.

In a letter sent by Cohen’s attorneys to Rep. Elijah Cummings, (D-MD), chairman of the oversight committee, there’s this paragraph that will be of special concern to the president and his legal team:

“Mr. Cohen was only recently able to access a hard drive with important documents. Said drive contains over 14 million files, which consist of all e-mails, voice recordings, images, and attachments from Mr. Cohen’s computers and phones. To date, Mr. Cohen has located several documents that we believe have significant value to the various congressional oversight and investigation committees.”

There was a memo attached to that same letter, and it may well provide crucial evidence of Trump’s suborning perjury (i.e. telling Cohen to lie under oath). Part of the memo alleges that Trump:

“Encouraged Cohen to lie and say all Moscow Tower project contacts ended as of January 31, 2016 using ‘code’ language — telling Cohen during various conversations that there was ‘no collusion, no Russian contacts, nothing about Russia’ after the start of the campaign.'”

It’s also likely that Cohen turned this same evidence over to investigators with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. They have the power to bring criminal charges against Trump, members of the Trump family, and the Trump Organization.

All of this evidence is a major game changer, and it suggests that Cohen is indeed the man who will eventually bring down this illegitimate president. He’s Donald Trump’s worst nightmare.
