Chances are you’ve never heard of United States Senator David Perdue. He’s the junior GOP Senator from the state of Georgia, and earlier today he was speaking at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority conference when he urged those in attendance to pray for the death of President Obama, remarking:
“We should pray like Psalm 109:8 says: Let his days be few.”
Let no one dare say that Perdue was merely calling for the President to soon be out of office. Take a look at the entire Psalm the Senator referenced, which directly asks for vengeance against a rival:
“Let his days be few; Let another take his office.
Let his children be fatherless And his wife a widow.
Let his children wander about and beg; And let them seek sustenance far from their ruined homes.
Let the creditor seize all that he has, And let strangers plunder the product of his labor.
Let there be none to extend loving kindness to him, Nor any to be gracious to his fatherless children.
Let his posterity be cut off; In a following generation let their name be blotted out.
Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD, And do not let the sin of his mother be blotted out.
Let them be before the LORD continually, That He may cut off their memory from the earth;
Because he did not remember to show lovingkindness, But persecuted the afflicted and needy man, And the despondent in heart, to put them to death.”
Psalm 109 is often referred to by Christians as “the Judas Psalm” because it is believed to be a prophecy about the coming betrayal of Jesus Christ by Judas Iscariot.
Thanks to the good reporting of Betsy Woodruff, we know that Perdue did indeed make the remarks, and Woodruff reported Senator Perdue had a big smile on his face as he did so:

I happen to live in Georgia, and I have always suspected that David Perdue is a major-league douche. He just confirmed my suspicions.
