Huckabee: My Quack Method To Treat Diabetes Infomercials Prove ‘I’m Going To Be A Heck Of A Good President’

I’ll be perfectly honest with you: When I heard that Mike Huckabee was running for President again, I laughed until my ribs ached. Why? Because he’s a joke, a charlatan, and he has no chance of winning anything.

The former Governor of Arkansas proved me right yesterday during an appearance on the CBS show “Face the Nation.” Huckabee was asked about several infomercials he made for bogus ways to treat diabetes and cure cancer. The American Diabetes Association even warned people not to fall for the quack remedies being peddled by Huckabee and the company he was shilling for.

But Huckabee defended the infomercials and told “Face the Nation” host Bob Schieffer that the treatments had really been about:

“The healthy eating, watching the kinds of foods one takes in.”

To this, Huckabee added:

“You know, I don’t have to defend everything that I’ve ever done. I’m not doing those infomercials obviously now as a candidate for president.”

Actually, when you run for the highest office in the land, you most certainly do have to defend everything you’ve ever done, Mike.

Next, Huckabee claimed that the infomercials somehow proved he would be a great President:

“But if that’s worse thing that somebody can say to me, that I advocated for people that have diabetes, to do something to reverse and stop the incredible pain of that then I’m going to be a heck of a good president.”

Oh, that’s far from the worst thing we can say about you, Governor. We could add that you hang out with people like Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent. The same Ted Nugent who has said incredibly rude and even threatening things about President Obama and has also remarked that he would like to shoot immigrants coming into the United States from Mexico.

Bob Schieffer took a good swipe at Huckabee, saying:

“I have diabetes. But you were also selling pills of some sort, were you not?”

That sent Huckabee backpedaling, and he blurted out:

“No, no! That’s a misnomer. One of the elements of the plan was dietary supplements, but it’s not the fundamental thing. The fundamental thing is always, as you and I both know, it’s exercise, it’s good eating habits, it’s maintaining sugar levels. It’s not eating a bunch of junk food.”

Sorry, Mike, but all the exercise, good eating, and maintenance in the world is never going to convince people to take you seriously.
