Idaho Republican Says ‘Trauma’ Prevents Pregnancy If Woman Is Raped

Why is it that so many members of the Republican Party seem to think that rape is no big deal when it happens to a woman? Is it because they truly are that freaking ignorant, or might it be a case of willful ignorance?

The latest GOP member to open his mouth and step on his dick is named Pete Nielsen, and he just so happens to be a state Representative in Idaho, though I’m pretty sure this asshat is a whole lot dumber than an Idaho potato.

On Thursday, during a legislative hearing on whether or not abortion providers should be required to provide a list of facilities to patients making them aware of clinics that offer free ultrasounds, Nielsen really showed himself. There is no exception for rape or incest in the ultrasound bill, but that’s no big deal, Nielsen maintained:

“Now, I’m of the understanding that in many cases of rape it does not involve any pregnancy because of the trauma of the incident. That may be true with incest a little bit.”

You are of the understanding? No, you actually understand nothing, you incredibly ignorant and disgusting fartcloud of rancid intestinal gas!

When advocates for women’s health attempted to set Nielsen straight on just how wrong he was, he refused to back down, commenting:

“That’s information that I’ve had through the years. Whether it’s totally accurate or not, I don’t know. In a rape situation, there’s a lot of trauma.”

Nielsen even tried to pass himself off as an expert on the topic, because:

“I read a lot of information. I have read it several times,. Being a father of five girls, I’ve explored this a lot.”

So this monumental douche-nozzle of a human being is the father of five daughters? Well, they must be so proud of their daddy, huh?

  1. Sick! You know what he believes if the woman got pregnant…that she lied about the rape or, worse yet, that she was a willing participant of the rape. Okay, so now I am crying. No words could express the depth of my disgust towards this man.

  2. This man clearly has mental health issues. Can you spell “early signs”? Why in the world is he in a public service position? He’s an imbecile!

  3. This $%^!ing idiot must have gone to the Todd Akin school of stupidity!

This bullshit is still being regurgitated by the RWNJ crowd who rely on John C. Willke’s stance that the “tubes in a woman’s body go ‘spastic’ during a rape” and prevent conception.

Although Willke’s bullshit has been debunked by no less than the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists , these misogynistic fucktards keep repeating it.

I support women’s absolute rights over their bodies and will vote for candidates that mirror my view.

    • Thank you for having my back,

My uncle was stunned to learn that I am afraid of men. (He had only boys)
I wonder if he ever knew any men.

  4. And his 5 daughters and 1 wife don’t have the integrity or guts to stand up to this idiot and set him straight?

And the media don’t follow up with them??

  5. How can anyone really be this uninformed, ignorant and stupid? No, the body does not ‘protect’ itself from rape. You have as much chance of conceiving through rape as from consensual sex. And some studies suggest women may be more likely to be the victims of rape when they are fertile.

    • I’ve been asking that for 50 years and I’m appalled a still don’t have an answer. Keep asking!

  6. Media always asks these male politicians what their stance on abortion is. I want to ask them why they think they have a right to a stance.

  7. Men, Republican men growing up at an earlier time were never told any of the facts of life. This info was taboo, typically learned from friends, none of whom had any better info. And, they never bothered to learn any more, I was told once that a relative had a miscarriage….but that it was a 7 lb. baby girl….who is now in her 50’s.
Probably still in the dark about ‘icky women’s problems’ and little respect for the truth.

  8. It’s disgusting circular logic – because they start with the truly evil assumption that all women who want abortions and “claim” that they were raped are actually lying about it – because if it was “legitimate” rape, there would be so much trauma that pregnancy could not occur.

  9. The earth is flat. Unicorns do exist. Clouds are actually marshmallows in the sky. Debating his point is like debating someone that would make one of these statements. We cannot be coerced into a debate over incontrovertible facts. Anyone, and I mean, ANYONE, that says that they agree with him, is a complete pathetic joke of a person. If I knew someone that bought into this statement, I would cease being friends with them.

  10. Statistically, at least one of his daughters will be the victim of sexual assault in their lifetime. I hope they don’t get pregnant on top of it. Their own father is clearly the last place they would go to for a sympathetic and understanding shoulder.

  11. I haven’t heard anything this outrageous since Booby Knight’s comment: “That if rape is inevitable why not just sit back and enjoy it!”

  12. They needed to ask….what kind of “exploration” are we talking about? Then, “we need to question your daughters!”
