Lindsey Graham Says GOP Must Reject ‘Demagogue’ Trump Or ‘We Will Deserve To Lose’

I never thought I’d live to say this, but for once I actually agree 100 percent with South Carolina Senator and 2016 GOP Presidential candidate Lindsey Graham.

During an appearance on CNN Sunday, Graham plainly and clearly said the Republican party must reject the extremist racism and xenophobia Donald Trump has been espousing over the past few weeks. Graham noted:

“I’m very worried about where we’re headed as a party. I don’t think this is how you get the latino vote. After 10 years of working on illegal immigrants, I’ve come to conclude that most illegal immigrants are decent, hardworking people.”

Graham added that if the GOP doesn’t call Trump out and eschew his radical ideology:

“We’ll have lost the moral authority to govern this great nation.”

Just yesterday in Arizona, Trump added to his already inflammatory remarks on Mexican immigrants being drug dealers, murderers, and rapists, saying:

“This has become a movement. The silent majority is back, and we’re going to take our country back … the word is getting out that we have to stop illegal immigration.”

Senator Graham, however, said he could not possibly disagree more with Trump:

“We have to reject this demagogue. If we don’t we will lose and we will deserve to lose.”

And the Senator went further when asked about Trump, stating:

“I think he’s a wrecking ball for the future of the Republican party with the hispanic community and we need to push back. We can’t worry about what Donald Trump might do, we have to focus as a party on what we should do.”

The unanswered questions within the Republican party are these: Do they have enough cajones to call Trump an intolerant, racist asshole and ban him from their debate stage? Or will they merely pay lip service to the matter and let him continue to spew his poison?
