Longtime Trump Friend Appears Ready To Provide Damaging Evidence About The Donald

The average American, it’s fair to say, has probably never heard the name of Tom Barrack. But they soon will, especially now that public impeachment hearings are beginning.

Barrack is a private equity real estate investor who founded Colony Capital Inc. in 1990 and has invested in some of Donald Trump’s real estate deals over the years.

During the 2016 campaign, Barrack was a major fundraiser for the “Rebuilding America” Super PAC, which raised $23 million for Trump’s successful presidential effort.

Barrack was also chairman of the Trump inaugural committee, and that’s where the nexus between Barrack, Trump, and numerous foreign governments hoping to curry favor with the new administration took place. Numerous jurisdictions are now investigating the inaugural committee, the Trump family, and the Trump Organization, all of which are suspected of committing crimes ranging from skimming inaugural funds to selling access to diplomats from the governments of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

And yet, despite Barrack’s many efforts on behalf of the president, Politico reports that Trump is cutting all ties to his longtime friend:

“The key issue driving the two men apart: Barrack’s role as chairman of the president’s 2017 inauguration fund, which is under investigation by prosecutors.

“Trump was ‘really upset’ to read reports about Barrack’s role in allegedly making it easy for some foreigners and others to try to spend money to get access to Trump and his inner circle and whether some of the inauguration money was misspent, according to a senior administration official.

“’The president was really surprised to read all about the inauguration and who was trying to buy access and how, because the president doesn’t get any of that money,’ said the official.”

Be sure and note the part of that quote that reads “Because the president doesn’t get any of that money.

As usual with Trump, it’s all about greed. He didn’t get any of that money Barrack managed to score from the foreign countries and he’s so pissed that he’s cut off all communications with his old friend.

But that, according to former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner, may very well lead Barrack to tell everything he knows to investigators:

The die is cast. Barrack has every reason to turn on Trump and turn over the evidence he has. And that could wind up being very bad news for the president, especially as he seeks reelection.
