Mike Huckabee Gets Called Out On Facebook For Playing Criminal Defense Attorney To Perv Josh Duggar

Mike Huckabee should really choose his friends more carefully. Just yesterday he issued a full-throated defense of Josh Duggar, who we learned molested five underage girls when he was 14 year old.

Huckabee, doing his best imitation of a criminal defense attorney, said in a Facebook posting:

“No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story. Good people make mistakes and do regrettable and even disgusting things. No one needs to defend Josh’s actions as a teenager, but the fact that he confessed his sins to those he harmed, sought help, and has gone forward to live a responsible and circumspect life as an adult is testament to his family’s authenticity and humility.”

But if the former Arkansas Governor thought that his support for the Duggars would ease the pressure on them or even earn him praise from the general public, he was very wrong. The online reaction has been swift and incredibly negative. Here are a few of the responses which have shown up on Facebook:

Doesn’t look like Huckabee made any friends or supporters yesterday when he gave Josh Duggar a big digital hug, does it? Hey, we all knew Mike Huckabee was a joke as a candidate, and now he can wear the albatross of defending a child molester around his neck for the rest of his life.
