Anytime we hear about the investigation being conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into the 2016 election, the country mentioned is Russia. And while it’s already been proven that members of Donald Trump’s campaign had numerous contacts with Russian nationals and other questionable Russian entities, it now looks as if Mueller is preparing to cast his net even further. Specifically, to the Middle East.
The Daily Beast is reporting that the next phase of the Mueller probe will be focused on a possible conspiracy between Trump and the nations of United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Israel:
“Various witnesses affiliated with the Trump campaign have been questioned about their conversations with deeply connected individuals from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, according to people familiar with the probe. Topics in those meetings ranged from the use of social-media manipulation to help install Trump in the White House to the overthrow of the regime in Iran.
“Now, according to those same sources, the Special Counsel’s Office is ready to outline what cooperating witnesses have told them about foreigners’ plans to help Trump win the presidency. Two sources with knowledge of the probe said Mueller’s team has for months discussed the possibility of issuing new charges on this side of the investigation.”
Considering how completely servile Trump has been towards some countries in the Middle East — most notably Saudi Arabia and Israel — it certainly appears there’s more than just trying to support traditional allies at work here.
Within the past couple of months, Trump has refused to criticize Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his role in the brutal murder and dismemberment of Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi. He also agreed to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, even though doing so all but ended any serious efforts by the United States to broker peace between the Israelis and Palestinians.
Additionally, it has also been revealed that the Trump inaugural committee is suspected of having accepted millions in donations from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE via straw donors in exchange for favors from the Trump administration.
We won’t have to wait much longer for Mueller’s next moves as they pertain to the Middle East connection, the Daily Beast notes:
“In court filings that are set to drop in early 2019, prosecutors will begin to unveil Middle Eastern countries’ attempts to influence American politics.”
Donald Trump, it appears, sold his soul to many countries.
