Prominent Right-Wing Broadcaster Says He’s Done With Donald Trump

Over the past several weeks, Donald Trump has repeatedly taken potshots at his favorite network, Fox News, even going so far as to suggest that it was time for his supporters to find another place to get their propaganda:

“Just watched Fox News heavily promoting the Democrats through their DNC Communications Director, spewing out whatever she wanted with zero pushback by anchor, Sandra Smith. The New Fox News is letting millions of GREAT people down! We have to start looking for a new News Outlet. Fox isn’t working for us any more!”

That tweet led to Fox host Neil Cavuto to react on his show, remarking:

“First of all, Mr President, we don’t work for you. I don’t work for you. My job is to cover you, not fawn over you or rip you. Just report on you – call balls and strikes on you.”

And now another right-wing broadcaster is saying he’s done with the Donald, too.

Michael Savage is a very influential radio host who has lauded Trump with praise since he first announced his run for the White House, but now he says he’s done with the president, announcing on his show:

“If you’re going to call and tell me that you believe in Trump, please, I don’t want to hear it. How’s that? I don’t think [Trump] believes in Trump, because I don’t know which Trump it’s going to be one day to the next. On Saturday, he says ‘this’ about China. On Sunday, he says ‘that’ about China. On Monday, his handler says he really meant ‘this’ about China. So, which one did you believe in?”

What’s this? Trouble in paradise? Seems like all of sudden some of Trump’s most loyal media stars are turning against him, and that could be a problem as the 2020 election starts to heat up.

Here’s the larger issue for Trump: He’s not a popular person. He consistently ranks in the mid-30s when it comes to his approval rating, and even his most ardent fans — truck drivers, farmers, business leaders — are signaling that they’ve had quite enough of his selfish trade war, which is leading the U.S. economy directly into a recession.

A little more than year out from the next election, Donald Trump is not in a propitious position for an incumbent president. And if indeed the economy continues to trend downward, that could well spell doom for this White House.

Trump eventually tosses everyone under the bus to save his own ass. But now some very influential people are pushing him under it, too.
