Donald Trump is all about money. Over his career, he’s made and lost fortunes. He’s gone bankrupt and left banks holding the bag for multimillion-dollar loans. And that’s meant that in recent years, Trump has been forced to get money from questionable sources.
And it now looks like those sources of money may be the downfall of both Trump and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
According to excerpts from a book written by Michael Wolff, money is what will bring down Trump. Even his former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, says so, telling Wolff:
“This is all about money laundering. Mueller chose [senior prosecutor Andrew] Weissmann first and he is a money-laundering guy. Their path to f*cking Trump goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr, and Jared Kushner… It’s as plain as a hair on your face.”
Kushner, Bannon added, is the weak link, because he too has made dirty deals in real estate:
“It goes through Deutsche Bank and all the Kushner sh*t. The Kushner sh*t is greasy. They’re going to go right through that. They’re going to roll those two guys up and say play me or trade me.”
It’s always been about the money. Money, no matter how hard you try to hide it, always leaves a trail. Think about it this way: If no bank will loan you money and you cannot do business without cash, there are always certain people who can arrange for you to get it, provided you’re willing to abide by their terms and agree to be their laundry.
Late last year, it was reported that a Trump property in Panama may well have accepted drug money to help finance a hotel bearing the Trump name. That hotel is now under investigation and in the process of taking Trump’s name off the building.
As for Jared, he’s desperately trying to find money to prop up his purchase of a property on Fifth Avenue in New York. He overpaid for the building, and he may have also taken dirty money to finance the initial purchase.
Just as it was in Watergate, money is the key. And the trail of money is what will wind up destroying Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, and other members of the Trump family.
