Appearing on the MSNBC show “Morning Joe” earlier today, director Rob Reiner lit into MSNBC, along with the hosts of “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, for their complicity in helping allow Trump’s rise to power:
“The words that have been flung out from his mouth are insane. If he was not a celebrity, if Donald Trump was not a celebrity, the words that come out of his mouth, you’d see a guy in a park. A lunatic in a park on a soap box, and you’d walk right by him.”
Reiner also said that moderators of debates must be more forceful and hold Trump accountable for the hateful things he says:
“What we have to care about is: what does this man say?”
Scarborough weakly tried to defend his network by claiming:
“Which we do.”
But Reiner wasn’t buying it for a moment, telling Scarborough:
“He’s not pinned down. I want to hear how he’s going to deport twelve million people.”
Apparently the hosts got their feelings hurt, and they turned defensive, which is often the fallback position for those who know they are guilty and have been caught. Scarborough whined:
“I would bet you your proceeds from your next twenty films that I could find you any question that you bring up. About the wall, which Mika tried to nail him down on, the Muslim ban — we gave Bob Woodward twenty minutes!”
Once more Reiner dismissed Scarborough’s defense of himself and it became clear that Brzezinski was on the verge of having a hissy fit. She did not disappoint, cuttingly telling Reiner:
“You act like you’ve got some special sauce! Maybe I should stick my heel down [Trump’s] throat and tell him he’s not answering my question. Would that make you feel good? What planet am I on?”
Face it Mika: You’re a lightweight hack pretending to have some credibility, but you lost whatever traces you had months ago when you began fawning all over Trump. And as for Scarborough, he’s a GOP sycophant who wets himself anytime a Republican gives him a compliment. Both of them are so in the bag for Trump it’s not even funny.
