Over the past eight years, conservatives have come up with some crazy (and often hilarious) conspiracy theories about President Obama. Here’s a few of their favorites:
- Obama was born in Kenya and is therefore not an American citizen, and not allowed to be President
- The President is a socialist/communist
- The Commander-in-Chief is secretly a Muslim
And now we have the last of these theories–the secret Muslim one–making the rounds once again. Why, you may ask? Because the President just announced that when he leaves office, he and his family will be living a house in the Washington, D.C. suburbs which is near the school Sasha Obama attends. Sasha has about two years left at Sidwell Friends School.
But the new house also happens to be near…a mosque! Oh no! See, it’s all true! Right-wing news site The Daily Callercould barely contain their disgust as they noted:
“The mammoth, multi-million-dollar mansion where President Barack Obama and his family will reportedly live after the first family exits the White House is located 1,096 feet from the Islamic Center of Washington — one of the largest mosques in the Western Hemisphere. The Islamic Center in our nation’s capital also provides help for families in need, holds wedding ceremonies, organizes language courses, offers counseling and makes available ample significant research material related to Islam.”
So let’s say the house was located across the street from a Christian church, would that satisfy the nutjobs that Obama was a Christian, as he has said on numerous occasions? Nah, they’d just claim he was trying to provide a cover for his real religious leanings.
No matter what he does or what he says, conservatives will never accept the fact that President was elected by huge margins not once, but twice, over their feckless candidates. All they have left is their racism, Islamophobia, and nativism. And that perfectly explains why they will nominate Donald Trump at their convention in July.
