Sean Hannity May Have Also Played A Role In The Trump-Ukraine Scandal

Each day seems to bring a new development in the unfolding Ukraine scandal which has Donald Trump on the verge being just the third president to ever face articles of impeachment.

A couple months ago, Rudy Giuliani’s two henchmen, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, were arraigned in a Manhattan federal court, where they both pleaded innocent to the four counts against them and Parnas made it clear that he believed he had been working directly for President Trump.

And now Fox News host Sean Hannity has been mentioned in connection with the Ukraine scandal.

According to a CNN report, when Parnas and Fruman were arrested, they were on their way to Austria, where they were scheduled to meet Giuliani and Ukraine’s former prosecutor general, Viktor Shokin:

“Shokin is the same Ukrainian official who former Vice President Joe Biden — along with other Western leaders — had pushed to have removed over concerns he wasn’t prosecuting corruption.”

Specifically, Shokin was about to meet Hannity in Austria for an interview:

“While questions in Washington swirl around Shokin’s role in this controversy, Giuliani, Parnas, Fruman had specific plans for the former Ukrainian official up until the day of their arrest. According to those four sources, they told others they were headed to Vienna to help with a planned interview the next day: Shokin, they said, was scheduled to do an interview from the Austrian capital with Sean Hannity.”

When asked about whether or not that was indeed true, a spokesperson for Hannity issued a statement that read:

“We never reveal our sources, potential sources, or persons they may or may not request to interview. Sean Hannity takes the First Amendment seriously.”

But if indeed Hannity was about to interview Shokin, that’s a big problem for the Fox host. Though he may not have any criminal liability, the fact that he was in touch with anyone connected to the former Ukrainian prosecutor general makes him a witness, and even with his protections as a journalist, he could wind up having to appear before a congressional committee and tell what he knows or face obstruction charges.

Just when you think this scandal can’t get any wilder, it takes another turn.
