We all know that Ted Cruz can be a scary guy. Just watching him as he gets wound up and starts to do his “I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!” routine is enough to make you sit back in your chair and gasp in horror. But now he’s scaring children, too. Has this man no shame?
While speaking to a group of New Hampshire Republicans on Sunday, the Texas Senator was giving one of his patented oratories on how the world is going to hell in a handbasket and the blame should rest with President Obama:
“It is now or never. I don’t think we’ve reached the point of no return yet. But we’re close. We are close! And I believe if we go four or eight more years on this same path, we risk losing the greatest country in the history of the world. Millions of Americans are realizing this isn’t working. The Obama economy is a disaster. Obamacare is a train wreck.”
Cruz, who is no doubt running for the GOP Presidential nomination in 2016, then moved on to foreign policy, where he is even more clueless than he is on domestic issues:
“And the Obama-Clinton foreign policy of leading from behind–the whole world is on fire.”
At this point, a 3-year-old girl in the audience, Julie Trant, turned to her mother and asked:
“The world is on fire?”
It quickly becomes clear that Cruz has scared the child, who appears visibly shaken by the Senator’s gloom and doom preaching. But Cruz, rather than attempting to comfort the girl, decides to take it up another notch. He turns to the girl and says:
“The world is on fire. Yes! Your world is on fire!”
Yeah, good luck getting that kid to sleep later tonight after Teddy Boy has planted images of the coming apocalypse in her little mind.
Finally, mercifully, Cruz does a tiny bit to reassure the girl everything is going to be OK in the long run:
“But you know what? Your mommy is here and everyone is here to make sure that the world you grow up in is even better.”
Oh, well, thanks so much, Prophet of Doom. I’m sure she feels lots better now.
Watch Ted Cruz terrify a little girl!
