No sooner had the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage been handed down yesterday than Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton began looking for a camera and microphone so he could blather on about his feelings on the matter. Here’s part of what this incredibly ignorant jackass had to say:

“Today’s ruling by five Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court marks a radical departure from countless generations of societal law and tradition. The impact of this opinion on our society and the familial fabric of our nation will be profound. Far from a victory for anyone, this is instead a dilution of marriage as a societal institution.”

How exactly does the fact that people who love one another will now be allowed to marry affect Mr. Paxton in the first place? It does nothing to his own marriage. Nor does it in any way, shape, or form have an impact on the office of Texas AG.

Paxton, already belching smoke from his nostrils, added:

“What is most disturbing is the extent to which this opinion is yet another assault on the actual text of the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law itself. Just as Roe v. Wade ripped from the hands of the American people the issue of life and placed it in the judge-made ‘penumbras’ of the Constitution, so has this opinion made clear that our governing document – the protector of our liberties through representative government – can be molded to mean anything by unelected judges.”

Has this moron even bothered to read the U.S. Constitution? It specifically gives courts the power to intervene whenever there is a dispute between the rights of the states and the rights of the federal government. It’s called the 14th Amendment, and apparently that portion of the document was missing from textbooks when Paxton was in law school.

This wasn’t all Paxton had to say as he tried to use his own personal beliefs and religious faith to frighten the masses about what he perceives as an impending persecution of those who disagree with what the majority now supports. Here he is during an interview with Salon:

“In numerous incidents trumpeted and celebrated by a sympathetic media, progressives advocating the anti-traditional marriage agenda have used this issue to publicly mock, deride, and intimidate devout individuals for daring to believe differently than they do. This ruling will likely only embolden those who seek to punish people who take personal, moral stands based upon their conscience and the teachings of their religion. It is not acceptable that people of faith be exposed to such abuse.”

Hey, Ken, I got a news flash for you: You and your fellow haters just lost. Now let it go and move on with the rest of your lives. No one wants to hear more of your hyperbolic ranting.
