It’s easy to lose track of all the lies Donald Trump tells. He weaves intricate webs of lies which are wrapped in half-truths, sealed with hyperbole, and then dusted with a hazy coating of flat-out bullshit. He’s a serial liar who stacks lies up so high that were they to all materialize in the form of bricks, he would have enough to build that infamous wall of his on the Southern border to a height of at least 20 miles.
But perhaps the lie that Trump tells more than any other–and continually gets away with–is the one in which he says he was always opposed to the war in Iraq which began in 2003. Specifically, Trump has said as recently as this week:
“I was totally against the war in Iraq. Now, I was a civilian, so nobody cared. But I was against the war in Iraq.”
No, he wasn’t.
Trump didn’t start criticizing the invasion of Iraq until a year later, in 2004. Matter of fact, in 2002, when asked by Howard Stern if he supported invading Iraq, Trump quite clearly stated:
“Yeah, I guess so.”
Granted, that may not be a full-throated endorsement, but it’s also light years away from saying, Oh hell no! That would be a giant mistake and Bush shouldn’t do it!

The worst part is that Trump has used this same line hundreds of times, as if he’s some kind of modern-day Nostradamus who saw into the future and knew the Iraq War would wind up being the disastrous quagmire we are still involved in 13 years later.
Donald Trump is NOT Nostradamus. Matter of fact, he isn’t even bright enough to empty the bucket Nostradamus–who was also a physician–used to wash his ass.
Trump was never opposed to the Iraq War before it began. There is no evidence he was against the war until he saw it going badly. That’s like claiming you’d have hit the lottery if they’d given you the winning numbers.
Face it, Donald Trump is completely incompetent and untrustworthy. He is a grifter, a con man, and an unrepentant liar.
