The Day Before Joe Biden Buries His Son, Ted Cruz Attacks The Vice President

Ted Cruz likes to claim that he’s a Christian and that he believes his faith to be one of the guiding forces in his life. But from the comments he made about Joe Biden just a day before the Vice President buries his son, Beau, you’d certainly never know it.

Speaking to Republicans at an event in Michigan on Wednesday, Cruz remarked:

“You know, Vice President Joe Biden. (the crowd laughs) You know the nice thing? You don’t need a punch line. (uproarious laughter) I promise you it works — the next party you’re at, (laughter) just walk up to someone, say “Vice President Joe Biden” (laughter) and just close your mouth (even more laughter) They will crack up laughing. And Biden said, if anyone attacks your house, just go outside with a double-barrel shotgun, and fire both barrels. Now that is very very good advice… if it so happens you’re being attacked by a flock of geese.”

That’s really hilarious, Teddy Boy. Did you forget that the man is grieving for his son, who died of brain cancer less than week ago? Or do you know and just not give a damn? Either way, you have just humiliated and denigrated yourself in public. You’ve shown what a shallow, callous piece of detritus you really are.

After his speech, a reporter approached Cruz and asked him if he thought the joke had been in poor taste considering that the Biden family is in mourning. Cruz shook his head and walked away.

Later, realizing that his comments might hurt him politically, Cruz posted this on Facebook:

“It was a mistake to use an old joke about Joe Biden during his time of grief, and I sincerely apologize. The loss of his son is heartbreaking and tragic, and our prayers are very much with the Vice President and his family.”

But it’s way too late for that, Ted! The cat is already out of the proverbial bag, and you have just confirmed what we have always known about you: You are a self-obsessed opportunist who does not care for anyone except the person you see in the mirror.

Cruz had no chance of ever being elected President of the United States. And his comments on Wednesday are a perfect example of why he will never achieve higher office.
