By firing FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday, Donald Trump may have helped seal his fate and led directly to a series of actions which will accelerate calls for the alleged head of state to be impeached and prosecuted for criminal activity.
In the days since Trump removed Comey from his post, the illegitimate president has repeatedly belittled the former head of the FBI, accusing him of being a “showboat” and a “grandstander.” It’s as if Trump thinks it necessary to humiliate a man who has devoted his life to law and justice, two words which the former real estate developer is not even marginally familiar with.
But now we have a report suggesting that Comey is enraged by the way Trump has been trying to smear his reputation and is ready to respond in kind. That response could happen as soon as next Tuesday, when Comey has been invited to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
One person close to the former FBI director has told ABC News that Comey was especially upset with Trump characterizing him as a “showboat” during an interview with NBC News.
Former Justice Department spokesman Matthew Miller says Comey could have some highly incriminating information to share with members of Congress:
One thing I learned at DOJ about Comey: he leaves a protective paper trail whenever he deems something inappropriate happened. Stay tuned. https://t.co/sENlYyhL5B

Also, Trump hinted early Friday that he might have “tapes” of his conversations with Comey. If so, those tapes could now be subpoenaed by congressional investigators and grand juries which are reportedly already meeting in Virginia.
So while Trump has been trashing Comey to protect his own already sullied reputation, his recent remarks could wind up coming back to haunt him in just a few days. Also, if Trump did indeed ask Comey on three separate occasions whether or not he was under investigation by the FBI, that itself would be evidence that Trump sought to obstruct justice, an impeachable offense.
This time next week, we could well be watching as a Constitutional crisis bigger than Watergate comes to a head. Stay tuned!
