The 2016 presidential election was stolen.
A collection of culprits can be blamed for the results which produced a victory by Hillary Clinton in the popular vote but propelled Trump to the White House courtesy of the Electoral College and a few thousand votes in a several key states:
- Russia
- Cambridge Analytica
- Facebook and Twitter
- Trump and members of his campaign
But while we’ve long known that something was rotten with 2016 and Trump’s election, new details prove just how extensive the larger conspiracy was.
Thanks to some excellent reporting by The Washington Post, we also have evidence that Cambridge Analytica — the British firm that provided research and coordination for social media ad campaigns and assorted dirty tricks — also send paid advisers to assist Republicans as early as 2014. As the Post reports:
“Cambridge Analytica assigned dozens of non-U.S. citizens to provide campaign strategy and messaging advice to Republican candidates in 2014, according to three former workers for the data firm, even as an attorney warned executives to abide by U.S. laws limiting foreign involvement in elections.
“The assignments came amid efforts to present the newly created company as ‘an American brand’ that would appeal to U.S. political clients even though its parent, SCL Group, was based in London, according to former Cambridge Analytica research director Christopher Wylie.”
Additionally, at least two prominent Americans knew about this intrusion into American politics: Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon and Rebekah Mercer, the billionaire financier who provided essential funding for the Trump campaign in the hopes of getting a willing puppet (Trump) that would gladly do the bidding of others seeking to make and launder money in the United States.
Where does this leave us? Well, it’s safe to say that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is already following each of these threads as he continues his investigation into what happened in 2016. And while Trump may continue to go on Twitter and whine about “no collusion” like some sort of an addled parrot, the facts prove otherwise.
Trump and members of his campaign are potentially on the hook for crimes that carry sentences guaranteeing they die in prison. That includes most of Trump’s family, nearly all of whom are guilty of being part of a much larger conspiracy.
Treason is a serious crime, and there is no greater traitor than Donald Trump himself.
