There’s No App For Stupid: Jeb Bush Says His Apple Watch Can Replace Obamacare Health Insurance

They say there’s an app for everything. But there’s no app for stupid, as Jeb Bush discovered yesterday during a campaign stop in Arizona to discuss the important issue of healthcare reform.

Bush, sporting a new Apple Watch on his wrist, told the gathered crowd that it would be great if everyone had a device like an Apple Watch to monitor their health at all times:

“I think we should repeal Obamacare if given the opportunity, and replace it with a consumer-directed model where people are engaged in making healthier decisions for themselves and where they are given the tools to do so.”

So your plan is to take Obamacare health insurance away from those who have gained it under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and instead give them a freaking watch?! I guess instead of Food Stamps we can just give everyone a subscription to Bon Appetit magazine!

The former Florida Governor then went on to extol his radical idea for healthcare with this suggestion for a person who has diabetes:

“I’ll have the ability, someone will, you know, because of my blood sugar, there’ll be a wireless, there’ll be, someone will send me a signal. It’ll come here, I’ll get a double beep saying, ‘You just ate a butterscotch sundae’ or something like that. ‘You went way over the top. You’re a diabetic, you can’t do that,’ whatever.”

Aren’t Republicans constantly warning us that the government is too much in our lives and far too intrusive? Yet here’s Jeb Bush proposing that your watch chastise you for what you just ate. Has he cleared this idea with Sarah Palin, who is endlessly critical of the First Lady for encouraging American families to eat healthy?

Shortly after Bush made his speech, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is a breast cancer survivor, fired back on Twitter, saying:

The past couple of weeks have been bad ones for Jeb Bush. First there was the Iraq War flip-flop, and now we have him suggesting that millions of Americans be stripped of their health insurance and given a watch to tell them when they indulge in too much candy.

I realize I’m probably getting way ahead of myself, and of history, but I want to declare this right now: Jeb Bush will notwin the 2016 GOP nomination. Remember, you read it here first.
