In case you were wondering exactly how Donald Trump would avoid conflicts of interest regarding his business holdings and his duties as president, the answer was revealed this week: He won’t avoid them, he just doesn’t think the rules apply to him.
And then Sunday on This Week, incoming chief of staff Reince Priebus went even further, threatening the head of the government ethics office which oversees whether or not public officiasl are in compliance with applicable laws.
Earlier this week, the head of the ethics office, William Shaub, Jr. had this to say of Trump’s mythical divestment of his interests which were merely placed under the control of his sons:
“I don’t think divestiture is too high a price to pay to be president of the United States of America.”
Priebus, however, went all thug life on Shaub, ominously warning:
“The head of the government ethics ought to be careful because that person is becoming extremely political.”
How was he being political when all he did was quote the law and say Trump wasn’t in compliance with it, Reince?
The former RNC chair then added:
“And [Shaub] is calling out the president (sic) with information on Twitter about our detangling of the business over a month ago. So I’m not so sure what kind of standing he has anymore in giving these opinions.”
What standing does he have? Are you freaking kidding me?! He’s the head of the ethics office!
We can already see what the pattern will be for Trump once he takes the oath of office and these questions arise time and time again: Those laws don’t apply to me, and even if they do, you might not want to say so or bad things could happen to you. It’s right via might, like something straight out of the Godfather.
So allow me to beat the rush and say it now: Donald Trump is a crook, a liar, a sexual deviant, and a scum sucking bag of rotting excrement who should be impeached and imprisoned. What do you have to say about that, Reince?
