Trump ALREADY Backpedaling On Core Promises; Supporters Go NUTS (VIDEOS)

Over the course of the 2016 race for the White House, Donald Trump made a whole lot of promises that his fanatical supporters are fully expecting he’ll keep once he takes the oath of office. But as we’re already seeing, they are likely to be sadly disappointed; Trump is already dialing back his rhetoric and signaling that much of what he said was just for the purpose of getting elected. For example, consider these four core issues he ran on:

Repeal and Replace Obamacare

This one is first out of the box because just yesterday Trump said in an interview with 60 Minutes that he wasn’t going to leave 20 million Americans without health insurance:

What he told Leslie Stahl is in direct opposition to this adamant statement on the Trump campaign website, which reads:

“On day one of the Trump Administration, we will ask Congress to immediately deliver a full repeal of Obamacare.”

But what did the President-elect tell the Wall Street Journal this week?

“Either Obamacare will be amended, or repealed and replaced.”

The Wall

This one has been repeated by Trump hundreds, even thousands of times:

“I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall.”

On Thursday, Newt Gingrich, one of Trump’s closest advisors and whose name has been floated as Secretary of State commented on the wall:

“He may not spend much time trying to get Mexico to pay for it. But it was a great campaign device.”

Ending the “War on Coal”

On several occasions as he campaigned in states such as Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, Trump made statements such as this one:

“The Democratic Party does not understand that coal is an abundant, clean, affordable, reliable domestic energy resource. Those who mine it and their families should be protected from the Democratic Party’s radical anti-coal agenda.”

And yet, Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell admitted on Friday that no new mining jobs are likely to be coming back to his state, or any other state where coal is a source of jobs, saying:

“We are going to be presenting to the new president a variety of options that could end this assault. Whether that immediately brings business back is hard to tell because it’s a private sector activity.”

Mass Deportations of Hispanic Immigrants

Just last year, Trump told Scott Pelley of CBS News:

“If they’ve done well, they’re going out and they’re coming back in legally. We’re rounding ’em up in a very humane way, in a very nice way. And they’re going to be happy because they want to be legalized. And, by the way, I know it doesn’t sound nice. But not everything is nice.”

Fast forward to Wednesday, the day after the election, and RNC Chair Reince Priebus said while appearing on MSNBC:

“He’s not calling for mass deportation. He said, ‘No, only people who have committed crimes.’ And then only until all of that is taken care of will we look at what we are going to do next.”

That’s a whole lotta backtracking on four major issues that were the centerpieces of Trump’s campaign. Wonder how his acolytes are gonna feel when they realize they’ve been had by a con man who sold them down the river for his own personal gain. Something tells me they won’t be too happy. Oh well, they might as well get used to more lies and more reversals from their chosen demigod. It’s the one thing he actually excels at.
