Clueless Trump Claims Protesters In Some Cities Are Tossing ‘Bags Of Soup’ At Cops

It’s no exaggeration to say that President Donald Trump often makes absurd and ridiculous assertions and statements.

But something he said when he met with leaders from the National Association of Police Organizations in late July may well take the proverbial cake when it comes to truly head-shaking remarks from the mouth of the current head of state.

According to the president, some protesters are throwing “big bags of soup” at police officers assigned to keep the peace at racial justice protests.

The official White House transcript provided of the meeting between Trump and the police leaders tells us that Trump opined on the subject of attacks on cops:

“And then they have cans of soup. Soup. And they throw the cans of soup. That’s better than a brick because you can’t throw a brick; it’s too heavy. But a can of soup, you can really put some power into that, right?

“And then, when they get caught, they say, ‘No, this is soup for my family.’ They’re so innocent. ‘This is soup for my family.’ It’s incredible. And you have people coming over with bags of soup — big bags of soup. And they lay it on the ground, and the anarchists take it and they start throwing it at our cops, at our police. And if it hits you, that’s worse than a brick because that’s got force. It’s the perfect size. It’s, like, made perfect.”

That in the name of all that’s hold does that even mean?! Bags of soup? That’s not just stupid, it’s downright demented.

It didn’t take long before #BagsofSoup began to trend on Twitter, and some of the comments are absolutely priceless:

Someone really needs to alert the NSA about the dangers from soup. No, not the National Security Agency. The National Soup Association.
