Trump Says He Gave $10,000 To A 9/11 Charity, So Why Can’t Anyone Find It?

President-elect Donald Trump just loves to brag about how generous he is. To hear him tell it, he donates millions and millions of dollars to various charities each and every year. And yet no one can verify his claims because he refuses to release his income taxes even though every candidate since Richard Nixon has done so.

Trump has said that he gave $10,000 to a major 9/11 charity, and yet New York City Controller Scott Stringer says his office can find no evidence of that alleged donation.

Some background: the $10,000 in question was part of a fundraising effort radio personality Howard Stern publicized shortly after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Recordings from  Stern’s October 10, 2001 broadcast clearly show that he and co-host Robin Quivers expressly thanked Trump for his $10,000 pledge. Listen for yourself:

Quivers clearly remarked:

“He gave us $10,000.”

Stern confirmed that:

“Yes he did, to our fund.”

Yet Stringer’s office reports:

“For the periods covered by the audits, we did not find any record of a donation from Trump himself or a Trump entity to either the Twin Towers Fund or the New York City Public/Private Initiatives Inc.”

As recently as 2015, Trump campaign spokesperson Hope Hicks said of the supposed donation:

“Mr. Trump has donated close to half a million dollars to organizations as a result of the 9/11 tragedy including the American Red Cross and the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Fund. In addition to a total of $102 million dollars donated to hundreds of charitable foundations over a relatively short period of time, many of which helped people affected by 9/11.”

Then why can’t the office in New York State, where Trump lives, find any documentation to substantiate the claim made by the candidate on Howard Stern’s show in 2001?

Longtime Trump campaign spokesperson and self-appointed 9/11 expert Rudy Giuliani says he knows Trump donated to various causes related to the terror attacks, stating:

“Every time New York City suffered a tragedy Donald Trump was there to help. He’s not going to like my telling you this but he did it anonymously.”

Then again, anyone can claim they made a donation, and if it was indeed made anonymously, then there would be no proof. But it’s safe to assume that “great businessman” Donald Trump would want to count those donations on his tax return so he can deduct them, isn’t it? So show us the tax returns and put the entire matter to rest.

It has been said before but needs to be repeated: Donald Trump is a professional con man and pathological liar. And this man will soon have the nuclear codes. God help us all.
