Trump Tries To Attack Rising Obamacare Premiums, Winds Up Confusing Himself (VIDEO)

Today in Doral, Florida, GOP nominee Donald Trump had a perfect opportunity to score some political points with the issue of rising premiums on Obamacare, which are expected to rise by at least 25 percent in 2017. Instead, he shot himself in the foot (again!) and wound up looking like a rank amateur who doesn’t even know the basics of his own company.

Speaking at a golf resort he owns in Miami, Trump declared that Obamacare was “just blowing up,” and then added:

“And I can say all of my employees are having a tremendous problem with Obamacare. You folks, this is another group. Is that a correct statement? You look at what they’re going through with their healthcare is horrible because of Obamacare. So we’ll repeal it and replace it. But this is about jobs. And we have thousands of employees in Florida.”

A minute later, Trump attempted to correct himself, saying:

“These are just amazing people. This is what jobs do. Jobs just make lives and they make people and they make families and they’re not worried about their healthcare because we take great care of people.”

Then why are they having problems with Obamacare, Donnie? You provide them with great health insurance, so why in the world would they need to go to the federal healthcare exchange?

Later, a reporter asked Trump if his employees are on Obamacare or not. To that, the GOP nominee responded:

“Some of them, but most of them no.”

So much for clarification from the self-proclaimed “great businessman,” huh?

It was left to David Feder, the general manager for Trump National Doral Miami resort, to tell reporters that “very few” employees would have reason to buy Obamacare policies because “95 percent” are provided healthcare by the Trump resort. So, Mr. Feder, was your boss wrong to say that his employees are having problems with Obamacare? To that, Feder replied:

“I wouldn’t say he’s incorrect, I would tell you that the only employees that I know — again I don’t have the books in front of me — that may purchase Obamacare are typically part-timers.”

Monday night, Trump all but danced as he told a group of supporters:

“In some areas, they’re paying 60, 70 and 80 percent more than they were paying last year. And Hillary Clinton wants to double down and make it more expensive and it’s not going to work. I called it when it first came out. It’s only getting worse, and not only for you, for the country. Because our country can’t afford it, you can’t afford it. We’re going to have great healthcare at a fraction of the cost, and you watch. It’ll happen.”

What would Trump replace the Affordable Care Act–which he has said he will repeal if elected–with? He has yet to say.
