WATCH A CNN Host School A GOP Congressman Who Doesn’t Know Trump Has Never Criticized Putin

There’s an old expression we’ve all heard which dates back to the 16th century, and it goes like this:

“There are none so blind as those who will not see.”

That saying seems to be the operating principle of the vast majority of the Republican Party when it comes to the subject of Donald Trump’s love for Russian president/mass murderer Vladimir Putin. And it was on full view Friday when Florida GOP Congressman Ted Yoho appeared on CNN. Yoho said Trump refuses to criticize Putin because it’s simply not his style:

“His style is different. This is something that over the last 15 to 20 years, you’ve seen us back up on our foreign policy and we’ve — there is a vacuum created. Other countries are going in. That’s why you saw Russia going like this and China going into the sea. There is a new quarterback on the field and they will work this out.”

What?! How did we get from vacuums to Russia, China, and then quarterbacks? Host Brianna Keilar showed Yoho a graphic illustrating that of all the things Trump has criticized, he has yet to say a cross word about Putin, and that led Yoho to reiterate:

“He hasn’t? Well, again, it’s style.”

That’s when Keilar decided to cut through Congressman Yoho’s bull and ask why Trump’s “style” is to criticize everyone else, but never Putin, telling Yoho:

“If you want to say that is style and not substance because it’s rhetoric, then how is it, when we’re talking about Russia, we’re not talking about economic issues or domestic issues? Why is that OK for him to do that? Explain to me how that is not substantive on Russia?”

Rather than reply directly to the query, Yoho fell back on the great cop-out you hear repeatedly from Republicans, commenting:

“Well, you’d have to ask President Trump. I think it’s his style. He likes to be combative. He likes to go out after that.”

Or maybe it’s because Trump’s BFF in Moscow has incriminating information about the alleged American president and controls him with that. I guess we’d have to ask Trump. Nope, we’ve tried that. He just told more lies when we did.
