WATCH Joy Reid Fact Check A Trump Apologist Into Silence

With each new revelation about contacts between members of the Trump associates and Russian operatives, those who support the president create new, increasingly ridiculous talking points in an attempt to shift the discussion away from the White House.

On AM Joy Sunday, conservative activist Herb London was a panel member for a discussion about Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with two Russian officials in June of 2016. Host Joy Reid suggested that members of the administration knew Donald Jr. was in legal trouble because they authorized a payment of $50,000 to his legal defense fund just days after news broke that he had indeed met with Russian officials. That led London to try and steer the conversation to, you guessed it, Hillary Clinton:

“I don’t believe for a moment that there is a criminal case here. I do believe that there’s an awful lot of razzle-dazzle.

“This is a distraction, notwithstanding your claims to the contrary. It is very interesting that when you had Hillary Clinton approved [sic] the sale of 20 percent of American uranium to the Russians under a strange set of circumstances, I didn’t hear you engage in high dudgeon. It’s also true that when Ted Kennedy, in 1983, said he implored the Russians to help defeat Ronald Reagan, I didn’t hear you engage in high dudgeon. So again, there’s a certain kind of hypocrisy associated with these events.”

Reid shut London down by reminding him that a recent Snopes fact check had completely discredited the oft-cited conservative talking point about Clinton and uranium:

“It’s actually not true that Clinton sold 20 percent of uranium to the Russians. That’s an entirely made-up conspiracy theory that the right often peddled that isn’t true.”

Then, a few minutes later, Reid again went after London’s lie about Clinton, adding this:

“This uranium deal, it was not Hillary Clinton’s to veto or approve. All of the uranium remains in the United States and the timing of any donations to the Clinton Foundation does not even match the timeline of this deal.

“So that is in fact a false claim. I just wanted to let you know that so that you’re not going out and peddling that claim.”

London made no attempt to try and contradict Reid, knowing he had been bested by someone who had the actual facts to counter his pathetic lie.
