If you were wondering how bad of a week it’s been for the Donald Trump campaign–filled with talk of punishing women who have abortions and using nuclear weapons in Europe and the Middle East–consider this: Instead of showing up in person to speak to the Milwaukee County Republican Party on Friday evening, the Donald sent Sarah Palin as his surrogate.
Before a sometimes stunned and even bemused audience, Palin began with her patented nonsensical bullshit, deciding to address Trump’s signature issue: immigration. She said:
“What the heck are you thinking, candidates? What the heck are you thinking when you’re actually asking for more immigrants — even illegal immigrants, welcoming them in. Even inducing and seducing them with gift baskets: ‘Come on over the border and here’s a gift basket of teddy bears and soccer balls.”
That’s it! The bar is now closed. Bartenders, do NOT serve this woman so much as a ginger ale.
Some members of the press who were there for the event began tweeting the reaction Palin got when she let flow with some of her word salad:

Who, you may wonder, is enticing immigrants over the border with goodies? Why, Ted Cruz, of course! But Palin should have done her homework (provided she can actually read) and realized that the audience was composed mostly of Cruz supporters. So most of what she said fell on deaf ears:

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: Sarah Palin is a loose cannon who could bring down even the most popular candidate with her endorsement. Ever since she put her arms around Trump and said she was supporting him, things have started to go badly for the Donald. Coincidence? Hardly. This woman is political poison. And she’s also a complete idiot.
