Army Chief Of Staff: Guns Do NOT Make Us Any Safer In America

General Mark Milley is the Army Chief of Staff. He’s a man with four stars on his shoulder, and he recently testified before Congress on the security of United States military bases.

The NRA-backed puppets in the Republican Party have been saying for years now that the open carry of weapons by all military personnel on bases should be national policy. But here’s what General Milley told them:

“I’ve been around guns all my life. I know how to use them, and arming our people on our military bases and allowing them to carry concealed, privately owned weapons — I do not recommend that as a force protection. We have adequate law enforcement on those bases to respond. You take the Ft. Hood incident number two, where I was commander at Third Corps, those police responded within eight minutes and that guy was dead. So, that’s pretty quick, and a lot of people died in the process of that, but that was a very fast-evolving event, and I am not convinced, from what I know, that carrying privately-owned weapons would have stopped that individual.”

It would be nice to believe that the GOP and their paymasters at the NRA would listen to General Milley, but no doubt they’ll say he’s wrong and blame it all on President Obama. That’s their usual reaction when they hear things they don’t agree with.

But General Milley should know, now shouldn’t he? Let’s see how the ammosexuals try to discredit him. You can bet your life they will make an attempt.
