Ben Carson: Pledge Of Allegiance Proves America Is A Christian Nation (Video)

It is quickly becoming apparent that for all of his knowledge of medical science, Ben Carson knows next to nothing about American history.

Speaking at a megachurch in Georgia on Sunday, Dr. Carson, a neurosurgeon, declared that the motto “In God We Trust,” which is found on American money, and the Pledge of Allegiance both prove that the United States is a Christian nation.

But he began his political sermon by saying he was ready to declare war on what he called “the PC police,” adding:

“A lot of people have said to me: ‘Why are you willing to get into this fray when you had such a wonderful career and reputation and you were blessed financially and you could just sit back and relax?’ Well, I’ll tell you why: It’s because America is worth saving. If that means getting into a war with the PC police, I’m ready to fight that war — and I hope you will join me.”

And then Carson went on his anti-history rant, telling the adoring church crowd:

“The pledge of allegiance to our flag says we are one nation under God. Many courtrooms in the land on the wall it says ‘In God We Trust.’ Every coin in our pocket, every bill in our wallet says ‘In God We Trust.’”

But what Carson neglected to mention is that Congress adopted “In God We Trust” as the official motto nearly 60 years ago, during the Cold War. It did not exist at the time the nation was founded. The same is true for the Pledge of Allegiance, which was written in 1892 and adopted by Congress in 1945. “Under God” was not added to the pledge until 1954, 178 years after the United States declared its independence.

Carson, however, did not let the facts of history deter him, plowing ahead and telling the church members:

“So if it’s in our founding documents, it’s in our pledges, in our courts and it’s on our money, but we’re not supposed to talk about it, what in the world is that?. In medicine it’s called schizophrenia — and I, for one, am simply not willing to kick God to the curb.”

While we’re on the topic of mental illness, Dr. Carson, what exactly would you call someone who cannot even comprehend the basics of our country’s history? Stupid, clueless, or just a hack who thinks he can distort his way to a higher poll number?

  1. It seems to me the Republicans are you using the same tactic they’ve used in previous elections. If you have a lie that hurts your oponent, and helps you campaign keep repeating it and a large amount of people are going to ignore the truth and vote for you. It’s conformation bias

  2. If it is a Christian Nation then should be a piece of cake to get them to listen and act on what Number 9 Michael of Daniel 12:1, the child of Revelations and one of the olive branches killed in Rev 11 would like to do.

Export Thanks Giving Dinners, through rock and roll, and mind its own business religions to them over 800 over seas military bases. Then, the iniquity of that land can be taken away in one day, as spoken of in Zechariah 3, where Joshua was used as an example of what would happen to the olive branch of Zec 3.

  3. Hey Ben, let me clue you in:

The Treaty of Tripoli. Signed into law November 4, 1796.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen (Muslims); and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan (Mohammedan) nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

The Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom. Written by Thomas Jefferson and passed by the Virginia General Assembly on January 16, 1786. Paragraph II states in part:

II. Be it enacted by the General Assembly, that no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods
