As of today, President Donald Trump has three close friends who are in federal prison or soon will be: Michael Cohen, Paul Manafort, and Jeffrey Epstein.
In early July, Epstein — a billionaire money manager — was arraigned on charges of sex trafficking and accused of using his wealth in order to “create a vast network of underage victims for him to sexually exploit.”
As you might expect, Epstein entered a plea of not guilty. But since the FBI also found child pornography in his home, he’s now looking at anywhere from 45 to 60 years in prison if he’s found guilty on all counts.
Considering how much time Epstein is looking at spending behind bars, it’s expected he will tell what he know about others who were also part of his perverted activities over the years, and that could be very bad news for Trump, who had this to say about Epstein, according to New York magazine:
“Epstein likes to tell people that he’s a loner, a man who’s never touched alcohol or drugs, and one whose nightlife is far from energetic. And yet if you talk to Donald Trump, a different Epstein emerges. ‘I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,’ Trump booms from a speakerphone. ‘He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.'”
Clearly, Trump knows that his friend has a taste for younger girls, and that alone is troubling, but depending on what else he knows or has witnessed over the years, Trump could be facing charges of his own, as Miami Herald investigative reporter Julie Brown noted during an appearance on MSNBC Sunday:
“They went to dinner parties at each other’s houses. Trump was also on his plane, probably not as much as a lot of other people because, you know, Trump had his own plane. But they had a lot of social relationships. And the other interesting thing is Trump had a modeling agency, and Epstein also had a stake in a modeling agency, which they suspect he used to bring in underage girls from overseas.”
That fits in perfectly with what Herald editor Casey Frank had to say during an interview on CNN:
“Donald Trump making that public statement, Bill Clinton. He’s got a lot of friends in high places. If he has information about somebody at a much higher level in government, yeah, he’s still got the ability to bargain.”
Imagine the irony of the situation if Donald Trump is finally taken down by a sex scandal after multiple accusations that’s he’s sexually assaulted and harassed women over the years. It’s a twist of Shakespearean proportions, and it couldn’t happen to a more deserving douchebag than Trump.
