Falling Fast: Trump’s Approval Rating Now Lowest Of Any President In 70 Years

Have you noticed that President Trump never ever mentions his polling numbers anymore? During the campaign, he always bragged about how much he was winning by in the polls, and has even crowed about how he won the election, even though he actually lost by 3 million ballots in the popular vote.

The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll has Trump with an approval rating of just 36 percent, the lowest of any American president in 70 years:

Trump has also seen his disapproval rating skyrocket to 48 percent, which is about where George W. Bush’s hovered in his second term. Trump, in contrast, is only six months into his first term.

In contrast, Barack Obama had an approval rating of 59 percent after six months in office. Bill Clinton’s stood at 45 percent. Going further back in history, the highest rating for a president after six months was Harry Truman at 82 percent. The previous low was held by Gerald Ford at 39 percent, still three points higher than Trump’s current approval.

The president saw the ABC poll and tweeted out:

The abysmal polling data comes on the heels of a very bad week for the White House. It was revealed that Donald Trump Jr. had a meeting with a Russian attorney and former member of Russian intelligence during the heat of the 2016 race for the White House.

Polling on the actions of Donald Jr. show that the vast majority of Americans don’t approve of what the president’s son did. Fully 63 percent of those polled said they disapprove of Trump Jr.’s action, and 67 percent of the Americans were not convinced that members of the Trump administration had nothing to do with influencing the 2016 election in their candidate’s favor.

What might the week ahead hold for the White House? One can only guess, but if this new poll is any indication, the numbers for Trump may slip yet again. The administration finds itself in a hole, yet they continue to dig.
