Is Michael Cohen About To Bring Sean Hannity’s World Crashing Down Around Him?

Fox News host Sean Hannity is one of Donald Trump’s closest, unofficial advisers. The two reportedly talk several times a week and even shared an attorney, Michael Cohen, who pled guilty in August 2018 to eight counts of bank fraud, tax fraud, and campaign finance violations.

You may recall that Cohen reportedly has hundreds of tapes he made of conversations he had with clients over the years. Cohen even released one of those recordings of him and Trump discussing setting up a shell corporation to pay off women who allegedly had affairs with the president.

It’s quite easy to extrapolate that, if Cohen recorded Trump, he may well have done the same with Hannity, and that’s a very big problem for the Fox host.

In exchange for a plea deal, Michael Cohen also agreed to cooperate with investigators.

If indeed Hannity is on one or more of Cohen’s recordings discussing anything remotely touching on Trump or Trump and Russia, that makes him a co-conspirator. If he talked with Cohen about payoffs to women on Trump’s behalf, he’s also part of a larger conspiracy, and that makes him just as guilty as the others in the crime.

So far, Fox has retained Hannity on their network, but a criminal indictment would certainly make them reexamine their stance, as the Guardian noted back in April of last year when it was revealed that Hannity was a client of Cohen’s:

“Hannity’s undoing may be what has made him such a player at Fox: his closeness to Trump.

“‘Those ties may spell trouble for Hannity,’ said David Folkenflik, NPR media correspondent and author of the book Murdoch’s World. ‘Hannity’s proximity to Trump is such that as we learn more about that relationship, it may be unsustainable. Even for Fox News.'”

Those ties are especially troublesome if Hannity is a part of what now looks to be an extensive, wide-ranging conspiracy. If his name shows up on one of the pending indictments, Sean can kiss everything he has goodbye, thus proving the old adage, You lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.
