Russia Investigation Expands – Mueller Now Looking At GOP Congressman

The Russia investigation has taken some interesting twists and turns over the past several months, but with Special Counsel Robert Mueller now indicting people and speculation rampant about who might be the next arrested, we now learn that Mueller now has a sitting GOP Congressman in his sites.

According to NBC News, the Mueller team is now focusing in on Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) who has been called “Putin’s favorite Congressman” because of his actions on behalf of Russia. NBC reports:

“Investigators for Special Counsel Robert Mueller are questioning witnesses about an alleged September 2016 meeting between Mike Flynn, who later briefly served as President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, a staunch advocate of policies that would help Russia, two sources with knowledge of the investigation told NBC News.

“The meeting allegedly took place in Washington the evening of Sept. 20, while Flynn was working as an adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign. It was arranged by his lobbying firm, the Flynn Intel Group. Also in attendance were Flynn’s business partners, Bijan Kian and Brian McCauley, and Flynn’s son, Michael G. Flynn, who worked closely with his father, the sources said.”

Rohrabacher has been deeply enmeshed in the 2016 election controversy due in large part to his meeting with cyberhacker Julian Assange, whose WikiLeaks platform released thousands of stolen emails from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, John Podesta.

Flynn, who served as Trump’s National Security Adviser before he was fired for failing to disclose money he took from both Russia and Turkey, has been under increased scrutiny in recent days as he is reportedly seeking to make a deal with Mueller in exchange for leniency on his son’s behalf.

In addition to meeting with Assange, Rohrabacher has urged the Trump administration and Congress to repeal the Magnitsky Act which was imposed in 2012 due to Russian incursion into Ukraine and other activities which targeted American interests around the globe.

But now that the California Republican could soon be seeing his name on an indictment, Rohrabacher may wish he’d never even heard of Russia.
