The reelection campaign of President Donald Trump wants American voters to know that if he’s given a second term in office, he’ll focus on protecting monuments to the things right-wingers hold most dear: The traitorous Confederacy, white supremacy, and Jesus.
Oh, and if you doubt the sincerity of the Trump team, consider that they’re even willing to protect statues in other countries, according to an ad the campaign ran on Facebook and Instagram:
Yes, you can rest better tonight know that the world-famous Christ the Redeemer statue, which is found in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is safe.

According to The Daily Beast:
“The Trump Make America Great Again Committee, a joint fundraising account for the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee, paid between $14,000 and $22,000 to promote 67 versions of the ad on Facebook and Instagram. The ads, which began running on Friday and are now inactive, were viewed between 930,000 and 1.1 million times, according to Facebook data.”
Of course, knowing what we do about those who still support Trump, they probably didn’t even realize the statue featured in the ad could be found in Brazil. The likelihood is high that most Trumpers believe Christ the Redeemer can be found in Washington, D.C. and plan to travel to the nation’s capital so they can see it and take a few selfies with the Lord.
