Trump Attacks Civil Rights Icon John Lewis, Proving His Own Rampant Racism

Yesterday, Georgia Congressman John Lewis gave an interview to Chuck Todd as part of Sunday’s episode of Meet the Press. And in that interview Lewis said due to the increasing evidence of massive interference by Russia in the 2016 election, he doesn’t consider Trump to be a “legitimate” president:

“I believe in forgiveness. I believe in trying to work with people. It will be hard. It’s going to be very difficult. I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president.

“I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.”

Congressman Lewis also said he doesn’t plan to be present at the inauguration of Trump on January 20:

“I don’t plan to attend the inauguration. It will be the first one that I miss since I’ve been in Congress. You cannot be at home with something that you feel that is wrong, is not right.”

There was no need for Trump to respond. He could have pretended to be above the fray and gone about his business, but of course that’s impossible for a childish and petulant weasel like Donald Trump. He decided instead to attack a civil rights icon who has dedicated his life to assuring that all Americans are treated with dignity and respect:

Within minutes, others on social media began firing back at Trump:

Allow me to explain something to our Russian-controlled President-defect: John Lewis is an American hero who has fought for equality his entire life. You, Mr. Trump, on the other hand, refused to rent to African-Americans until the Justice Department threatened to file suit against you and you finally relented. In other words, he’s a great man, and you are a disgusting worm who hates everyone.

Game, set, and match John Lewis.
