When I first read the story you’re about to discover, I have to admit that I got sick to my stomach. And then I got angry. Very, very angry.
Jennifer Mau is an undecided voter who lives in Loveland, Colorado. She recently took her precious 7-year-old daughter to a Donald Trump rally because she said she wanted to know where the candidate stands on issues and treats the disabled. Her daughter, you see, suffers from several serious physical disabilities. She was born without a jaw bone or ears and receives her nutrients from a feeding tube.
After hearing the GOP nominee speak for a few minutes, Mau decided to leave the rally. And when she did so, Trump supporters began giving her grief for excusing herself before the rally had ended. In other words, they began acting just like your typical asshole Trumpkin. Mau says she became afraid, and also angry. One man asked her:
“‘Why are you leaving?’ and basically struck a nerve. I said, ‘Why are you here? He makes fun of people like you.’”
Another Trump supporter began following Mau and her daughter, insisting that if she truly loved her daughter, she would vote for Trump.
Eventually, the Secret Service escorted Mau and her little girl from the rally, and she recalls that several Trump rally attendees told her that her daughter was beautiful as she left the arena.
This is hardly the first time a disabled person has been subjected to ridicule, not only by Trump’s brainless minions, but also by the candidate himself. The GOP nominee openly mocked and imitated Washington Post reporter Serge Kovaleski, who had fact-checked Trump’s assertion (i.e lie) that thousands of Muslim Americans celebrated on September 11, 2001 when the World Trade Center collapsed. Trump launched into an impression of the disabled reporter, pointedly flopping his right arm around with his hand held at an odd angle and saying:
“Now, the poor guy, you’ve got to see this guy: ‘Uhh, I don’t know what I said. Uhh, I don’t remember,’ he’s going like ‘I don’t remember. Maybe that’s what I said’”
Donald Trump is a cancer on the United States. We must all go out on November 8 and make sure he is defeated soundly so he will know we reject his hatred.
