Today marks exactly three weeks since Donald Trump placed his hand on a Bible and took the oath of office to become the American head of state. And it now appears that Trump is preparing to take a page from his days on the Apprentice and tell three top staff members that they’re fired.
According to Politico and Axios, the alleged president is on the verge of giving the boot to National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, and Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy, who also happens to be a close Trump confidant, said over the weekend:
“The White House is showing not the amount of order that we need to see. I think there’s a lot of weakness coming out of the chief of staff.”
And a source within the West Wing added:
“These people are insecure because Trump does not respect them. He does not because they have not made any money. He respects [Stephen] Bannon and Gary Cohn because they are financially successful.”
The most vulnerable member of the Trump inner circle would appear to be Flynn, who said he had not met with the Russian ambassador prior to Trump taking office and was then proven to have lied in that statement. He even assured Vice President Mike Pence that he had never spoken with the Russians. For that, a source told Axios, Flynn is now on the shit list:
“Spread the butter: He is toast. Lying to Pence damaged Pence’s credibility and the administration’s. That is an unpardonablesin.”
Spicer remains the subject of regular lampooning on Saturday Night Live and late-night talk shows. It is alleged that when Trump saw a woman–actress Melissa McCarthy–portraying Spicer on SNL, he was deeply troubled by the fact that a female had been chosen to imitate the public face of the administration.
Three weeks in and already total chaos inside the White House. Considering that we’re talking about Trump, whose business ventures have routinely gone bankrupt, that should come as no surprise to anyone.
