In an unexpected twist for right wingers who have been screaming for months that Planned Parenthood was selling body parts taken from aborted fetuses for money, the two main players who made the hidden camera videos–David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt–were indicted by a Texas grand jury on counts ranging from tampering with a governmental record and prohibition of the purchase and sale of human organs.
And the screaming by 2016 GOP candidates has already begun, with the first screeching emanating from the piehole of Carly Fiorina, who has as much chance of being elected President as my dog does. On Hugh Hewitt’s radio show, Fiorina said:
“Yes, well, this is why it’s a fight for the character of our nation. We know for a fact that because of Planned Parenthood’s own announcement that they would no longer accept payments for what they call ‘fetal tissue,’ and they were in fact trafficking in baby body parts. So guess what? I’m not going to sit down and be quiet as I said at the March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Friday before the snowstorm descended. I will not sit down and be quiet, I know the value of life, we know what’s going on, and I will continue to stand for the character of this nation.”
Carly, no one cares if you sit down, stand up, rotate on your right arm until you turn into a whirling dervish, or levitate in mid-air because it has already been determined that you lie on a non-stop basis, so no one believes a single word you say. Should you choose to keep flapping your mouth, we will all just buy earplugs and block you out.
But Fiorina was far from finished, adding:
“Here’s what I know: Planned Parenthood has been trafficking in body parts. Planned Parenthood has been altering late-term abortion techniques to this specific purpose of harvesting body parts. In President Fiorina budget, there will not be a single dime for Planned Parenthood.”
Just because you think you “know” it, Carly, does not make it true, as the grand jury clearly determined. So you can scream as loud as you want, but it won’t make your false assertions turn to truth.
Mike Huckabee, who would also love to turn American women into nothing more than birthing vessels, said it was a “sick day in America,” and a spokesperson for Ben Carson remarked:
“He is equally shocked that they instead decided to indict the individuals that exposed Planned Parenthood’s heinous and illegal activities. As President, he will use the full weight of his office to not only cut off all federal funding for this organization, but also prosecute them for crimes against the unborn.”
It’s so much fun to see right wingers lose in court because they cannot seem to grasp one fundamental truth: They are wrong today and they will be just as wrong tomorrow and ten years from now.
