Recent Developments Suggest Mitch McConnell Is Under Investigation By Robert Mueller

It’s been said that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is one of the craftiest and most skilled political figures in Washington. Considering that he’s now in charge of the Senate, it’s hard to argue that point.

But there are things about McConnell’s actions (and inactions) when it comes to the matter of the Russian attack on the 2016 election that suggest McConnell may well be up to his neck in the stench emanating from what the Trump campaign allegedly did to assure Donald Trump became president.

Keep in mind that McConnell was informed that Russia had launched an attack on the 2016 race before a single vote had been cast. But when members of the Obama administration suggested announcing what was happening, McConnell demanded they remain silent. As the Washington Post first reported in June of 2017:

“The Dems were, ‘Hey, we have to tell the public,'” recalled one participant. But Republicans resisted, arguing that to warn the public that the election was under attack would further Russia’s aim of sapping confidence in the system.

… McConnell (R-Ky.) went further, officials said, voicing skepticism that the underlying intelligence truly supported the White House’s claims. Through a spokeswoman, McConnell declined to comment, citing the secrecy of that meeting.”

At the very same time, McConnell was also refusing to allow confirmation hearings on President Obama’s nominee to replace the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. McConnell said nominee Merrick Garland would have to wait until a new president had been elected, almost as if he knew which way the election was going to turn out. Had McConnell already been told by the Trump camp that the election was in the bag?

It should also be noted that there have been numerous calls for legislation that would protect Mueller and the Russia probe, but McConnell has said no such action is necessary.

From time to time, McConnell will say the requisite things about Russia. After the Treason Summit between Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, he commented:

“The Russians are not our friends. I’ve said that repeatedly, I say it again today. And I have complete confidence in our intelligence community and the findings that they have announced.”

So let’s ask the question: Is McConnell being investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller? Considering his insistence that no one be told of Russia’s interference prior to the 2016 election, the way he handled the Garland  nomination, and his refusal to protect Mueller, it seems highly likely he is indeed being looked at very closely by the special counsel.
