Over the past week or so, Donald Trump has repeatedly mentioned that the FDA has approved the use of two medicines as possible “cures” for coronavirus, hyping them as some sort of miracle drugs that will make COVID-19 go away so he can get back to his MAGA rallies and trying to win a second term in office.
In reality, the two drugs, chloroquine and azythromycin, have NOT been approved by the FDA to treat coronavirus.
But that hasn’t kept Trump from spreading misinformation about the drugs on Twitter:

And now those lies about drugs have led to the death of a man and hospitalization of his wife after they took chloroquine, according to Banner Health:
“A man has died and his wife is under critical care after the couple, both in their 60s, ingested chloroquine phosphate, an additive commonly used at aquariums to clean fish tanks. Within thirty minutes of ingestion, the couple experienced immediate effects requiring admittance to a nearby Banner Health hospital.
“Most patients who become infected with COVID-19 will only require symptomatic care and self-isolation to prevent the risk of infecting others. Check first with a primary care physician. The routine use of specific treatments, including medications described as ‘anti-COVID-19’, is not recommended for non-hospitalized patients, including the anti-malarial drug chloroquine.”
There have also been numerous chloroquine overdoses in the nation of Nigeria within days of Trump suggesting the drug might be a cure for COVID-19.
All of this proves that Donald Trump is a clear and present danger to the health and well-being of people across the globe. He isn’t a doctor, and he’s too damn stupid to know that he doesn’t have a clue about what to do for a disease as complex as coronavirus. His daily press briefings either need to end or the media should stop covering them entirely before more people die.
