The election is quickly slipping away from Donald Trump and his minions, and they’re more than a bit unsettled and angry about the fact that the Donald is such a massive asshat that he’s driving away voters by the millions with his hateful rhetoric.
On CNN earlier today, GOP Congresswoman Renee Ellmers of North Carolina told Chris Cuomo that is was “not fair” to make her defend Trump’s “rigged” election comments, angrily telling the CNN host:
“We’re talking about the Clintons and we’re talking about Hillary Clinton who is the most corrupt politician to ever run for office. Ninety-six percent of political contributions have been given to Hillary Clinton from you in the media.”
Cuomo pushed back at Ellmers:
“Everything you just said has nothing to do with election fraud. There has been a lot of exhaustive research on this. And the idea of widespread fraud in any election, let alone this one, has almost no basis in fact.”
Ellmers completely lost her composure, asserting:
“You are focusing on one area, the democratic system. That’s not fair! That’s really not what Donald Trump is talking about. He has talked about the rigged media against him…We’re even finding out that the FBI and the State Department was asking for quid pro quo! He is looking at this from a 30,000-foot level. And he is saying when you add it all up, it does amount to fraud.”
The host attempted to get Ellmers back on topic:
“But that’s not election fraud. Don’t undermine the process.”
Congresswoman Ellmers, now fully dedicated to staying in Bizarro World, said:
“What you are doing is you are taking one piece. These aren’t individual silos, these aren’t all in a vacuum, they are all cumulative. And they all add up.”
Cuomo then reminded his guest:
“If you are going to say there’s fraud, you have to prove it. This is very dangerous, otherwise, to undermine the election.”
Once again Ellmers lost what tiny shred of decency and calm she had:
“No! It’s not very dangerous. What’s very dangerous is electing someone like Hillary Clinton behind the backs of the American people. You want proof? I’ll give you proof. I’ll give you proof that this woman is corrupt.
“So, if she’s elected will you have me back afterwards, after there’s proof? It’s the American people that are saying this, the American people think this is a rigged system. So when you criticize, you are criticizing the American people.”
I have one word that best summarizes what Ellmers, Trump, and the rest of the Trump team are saying right now as the Orange Menace falls further behind in the polls: Bullshit. That’s all they’ve got left, and they’re spreading it on thick.
