Speaking today in Springfield, Illinois, Hillary Clinton used harsh language to call into question whether or not Donald Trump cares about anyone but himself.
Clinton began her remarks by saying that Trump was running one of most divisive campaigns “in our lifetimes,” and then adding:
“Now I realize that our politics have contributed to the sense of division that many Americans feel right now. And as someone in the middle of a hotly fought political campaign, I cannot stand here and claim that my words and actions haven’t sometimes fueled the partisanship that often stands in the way of progress. So I recognize I have to do better, too.”
Then the former Secretary of State delivered one of the most blistering attacks yet on the presumptive GOP nominee:
“In times like these, we need a president who can help pull us together, not split us apart. And that is why I believe Donald Trump is so dangerous. His campaign is as divisive as any we have seen in our lifetimes. It is built on stoking mistrust and pitting American against American. It’s there in everything he says and everything he promises to do as president.”
Clinton also blasted Trump for saying during an interview he gave Tuesday to Fox News that he can empathize with African-Americans who may be angry at the police for the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile:
“Even this, the killing of people is somehow all about him.”
How can Trump possibly deny the charge? No matter what is happening, no matter how another person is suffering or in pain, it always comes back to him. This, of course, is textbook behavior for a narcissist and sociopath like Donald Trump. He cares about no one but himself.
