Let it be known that the Senate’s resident turtle has spoken on the matter of whether or not Lord Donald of Trump should release his tax returns ASAP.
On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (aka The Turtle) was asked for his official statement on the Trump tax returns, which Trump claims are being audited. McConnell replied:
“Most candidates for president have, and that’s been the tradition.”
To that lukewarm statement, McConnell added:
“He’ll have to make that decision himself, but that’s certainly been the pattern for quite some time.”
Note that McConnell did not actually respond to the question and only used the words “tradition” and “pattern,” then gave himself an out by adding that Trump has to make the decision himself. Way to say something without really saying anything, Turtle Man.
Later, McConnell was spotted in the Senate cafeteria having a bite of lunch:
